48Hrs. of Tri-State 2006

       This year marks the 5th year of this wonderful drive.  The drive started in NJ at 8 PM friday where we traveled to Philadelphia getting there around 11:30pm.  After everyone got settled in we met in the lobby bar for a few drinks and to win some free prizes in the raffle.  Saturday we had breakfast at the Oregon dinner down the street and after breakfast we took off for the day.  Thanks my friends Kyle and Kristen who let me drive their car for part of the day Saturday so they could have some time to relax and not have to drive.  We picked up 3 cars mid-day saturday making the total numbers of cars 15!  After a few stops and some twisty unknown back roads towards the end we reached Niagara Falls, Canada around 7 PM (earliest we've ever gotten there).  Once in Niagara we checked in, got some beer (thanks Gus!), and did some more raffling.  In Niagara Falls we had a member from the Toronto Subaru Club come down to meet us for dinner.  After getting some food in us we all went in different directions to see what Niagara Falls had to offer.  Some went to take photographs of the falls, some went to get a good night sleep, and others went to try their luck at the casino.  Sunday we did not get on the road until 9 or 10 due to some issue's crossing the border back into the U.S. and we managed to pick up 2 more cars outside of Syracuse.  Due to the lack of snowfall we encountered Mike decided to take us through some unmaintained roads that he lives near where we all got to exercise our snow tires, some more so then others-we had 2-3 people get stuck trying to turn around.  After realizing how late it was getting we decided to make Albany our final dinner and everyone could just head back to home from there.  The final dinner was great as usual, everyone had LOTS of stories from the weekend to share and most agreed that the trip was too short (which is said every year).

This was the stop we made after all the back roads and before the final dinner.  Just about everyone had to clean all the dirt off their lights.  We had a few members that had to head home from here.
